Colonial Quito - Middle of the World Complex

Quito, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1978, boasts the largest colonial town in the Americas. Explore eclectic architecture, from modern quarters to colonial churches. See the Gothic Basilica del Voto Nacional, Independence Square, the Presidential and Archbishop’s palaces.
Visit the Metropolitan Cathedral, showcasing Spanish Renaissance art. Wander the “Street of the Seven Crosses” and admire the Jesuit convent and El Sagrario church. Don’t miss La Compañía de Jesús, the crown jewel of colonial architecture, and the artistic Plaza of San Francisco.

Visit the Capilla del Hombre, a cultural space that tells the story of Latin American man from Pre-Columbian to modern times. Then, head to the Middle of the World Complex to see the Equator Monument and learn about Ecuador’s diverse cultures at the Museum of Ethnicity. The complex replicates Spanish colonial architecture with a central plaza and church.
After a box lunch, ride the TeleferiQo, ascending to 4,100 meters (13,500 ft) for panoramic views of Quito’s valleys. Enjoy a short hike at the top.
