Itinerary
AM
Start your day with a thrilling ride on the Quito Teleférico, ascending to 4,100 meters (13,500 feet) above sea level. Take in breathtaking panoramic views of the city and surrounding valleys, and enjoy a short scenic hike along the high-altitude trails.
Back in the city, discover Quito’s historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978 and the largest and best-preserved colonial town in the Americas. Wander through cobblestone streets and explore iconic landmarks like the Gothic-style Basilica del Voto Nacional, Independence Square, and the Presidential and Archbishop’s Palaces..
Visit the Metropolitan Cathedral, showcasing Spanish Renaissance architecture, then stroll down the famous "Street of the Seven Crosses." Along the way, admire religious masterpieces such as El Sagrario Church, the Jesuit Convent, and the spectacular Church of La Compañía de Jesús, known for its gold-covered interior. End your walk at the picturesque San Francisco Plaza.
PM
After a box lunch, head to the Middle of the World Complex to see the Equator Monument and learn about Ecuador’s diverse cultures at the Museum of Ethnicity. The complex replicates Spanish colonial architecture with a central plaza and church.
